Jacobs notes Singas’ distinguished career and longstanding commitment to Nassau County families

Garden City, NY – Last night, Nassau County Democratic Committee (NCDC) Chairman Jay Jacobs endorsed Acting District Attorney Madeline Singas before a meeting of the NCDC’s Executive Committee. Jacobs, along with an overwhelming and positive response from the executive committee, joins a growing list of neighbors, families, and community leaders who are supporting Singas’s campaign. Singas was sworn in as Acting District Attorney on January 6th and is running for a full term in November.

“Madeline Singas has an unparalleled and impressive 23‐year career as a prosecutor and I know she will stop at nothing to keep our children and our families safe," Jacobs said. "The Nassau County District Attorney must protect our communities from guns and gangs, our taxpayers from political corruption and our families from domestic violence – and Madeline Singas is that kind of DA. Madeline’s unwavering integrity and commitment make her a natural choice, and I enthusiastically endorse her candidacy.”

In accepting the endorsement, Singas said: “As a mother and a taxpayer, I know how important it is to have an independent, fair, and tough District Attorney. I’m grateful for Jay Jacobs’ support and confidence in my credentials. In 23 years as a prosecutor, I have put our most dangerous criminals behind bars while protecting our loved ones and I look forward to continuing this critical work.”

A first‐generation American, Madeline Singas was sworn in as Acting District Attorney following the departure of Rep. Kathleen Rice. Acting D.A. Singas began her career as a prosecutor in 1991 and went on to serve as Chief of Nassau County’s Special Victim’s Bureau, where she successfully obtained a First Degree Murder conviction against Leonard Valdez‐Cruz for murdering his girlfriend, Jo’anna Bird. Later, Rep. Rice appointed Singas Chief Assistant District Attorney. Singas resides in Manhasset with her husband and two children.
